Urban Limits Tour of Berkshire - Cycling Safety

by Safer Roads Berkshire

Last year’s cycling road safety event was tremendously successful. This year, we’re doing it again – bigger and better – and we’re looking to raise funds for cycling jerseys for more than 100 people. They’ll help to highlight the tour and the need for cycling safety.

Cycling is gaining a lot of attention lately, as sporting success, environmental concerns and healthier lifestyles are fuelling the return to the bike. Summer 2014 will be no exception, as the Tour de France makes its way through the UK.

Now in its second year, the Tour of Berkshire is a mobile festival of cycling which has been organised by the ‘Urban Limits’ campaign alongside the local authorities of Bracknell Forest, Slough, West Berkshire, Windsor & Maidenhead and Wokingham.

The aim of the tour is to encourage the public to take up cycling, while raising awareness around the subject of cycling safety – particularly when cycling to and from schools. After the success of last year's event, we want to be even more ambitious, running guided bike rides for up to 300 people.

The main aim is to get noticed in the streets and tell people about being safe when cycling. That’s why we need bright jerseys to draw attention to us while delivering a road safety message. That’s why we are crowdfunding – we need the money to help produce the jerseys so we’re extremely grateful for every penny and pound donated to the cause. In return, we’re offering a number of rewards so check them out. And please don’t stop if we reach out funding target – we have stretch goals too!

Funding targets:

£300 – Brilliant! We’re able to buy the jerseys for the tour

£350 – Even better. We can buy the jerseys and get a great road safety message out there

£400 – So, so good! Thanks! As well as the above, we can add up to five logos or names to the jerseys

£500 – We can do all of the above and add more logos and name-checks!!

Tour Dates:

Tuesday 22nd July - Arlington Business Park

Wednesday 23rd July - Wokingham Market Place

Thursday 24th July - Slough Town Centre

Friday 25th July - Bracknell Town Centre

Saturday 26th July - Maidenhead Festival

As well as the rides, Dr Bike will be joining us at each location assisting people with general maintenance of their bikes, and we will also be joined by the incredible display team from the Extreme Mountain Bike show with performances running throughout the day.
